Police Investigate Crash on Highway 227 and Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo County 

San Luis Obispo County, CA (July 10, 2026) – Police are investigating a crash on Highway 227 and Highway 101 that caused significant traffic delays Friday afternoon.

The first collision occurred around 3:42 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 227 and Corbett Canyon Road, according to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information Page.

Authorities described the incident as a three-vehicle crash involving a head-on collision between two vehicles.

Investigators said both vehicles sustained major front-end damage, while a third vehicle also suffered front-end damage.

The CHP classified the collision as a major-injury crash. As of approximately 3:53 p.m., the southbound lane of Highway 227 remained blocked.

Officials requested tow trucks for the damaged vehicles, and traffic continued to move slowly through the area as crews worked at the scene.

The California Highway Patrol has not yet released information regarding the number of injured victims or the circumstances leading up to the crash.

A second collision occurred around 3:52 p.m. on northbound Highway 101 along the Cuesta Grade.

According to the CHP, the two-vehicle crash blocked the No. 1 lane while one person removed debris from the roadway.

Authorities cleared the roadway by approximately 4:11 p.m., although traffic delays continued afterward.

Both crashes remain under investigation.
