Malachi Maldonado Killed in Motorcycle Crash on 21st Street [Clovis, NM]

Clovis, NM (December 27, 2025) — Authorities have identified 22-year-old Malachi Maldonado as the victim in a fatal motorcycle crash on 21st Street that occurred on Christmas Day.

At approximately 5:58 p.m. on Thursday, Clovis Police dispatchers received a 911 call reporting a collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle at the intersection of 21st Street and Prince Street.

Police officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene.

First responders found a heavily damaged motorcycle and an adult male rider lying in the roadway.

Investigators reported that a second vehicle involved in the crash sustained significant front-end and windshield damage.

Emergency crews provided immediate medical aid to the motorcyclist, later identified as Maldonado, who had been thrown from the motorcycle during the impact.

Preliminary findings indicate Maldonado was traveling southbound on Prince Street through a green light when a vehicle attempted a left turn in front of him. The motorcycle struck the passenger side of the vehicle, ejecting the rider, who hit the windshield before landing on the roadway.

Maldonado was taken to Plains Regional Medical Center and later airlifted to a hospital in Lubbock, Texas, where he died from his injuries. The driver of the vehicle was also transported to Plains Regional Medical Center and treated for minor injuries.
