Police Investigate Tragic Accident on Private Property in Ferndale

FERNDALE, CA (December 12, 2025) — A man died after a tragic accident on private property along Crosby Road, approximately three miles outside of Ferndale, according to reports from first responders and local authorities.

Emergency crews from the Ferndale Volunteer Fire Department, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, and the California Highway Patrol responded to the remote location after receiving reports of a serious industrial accident.

According to scanner traffic, the victim was initially found unresponsive and trapped beneath the bulldozer.

CPR was in progress as emergency personnel made their way to the scene, which was only accessible via four-wheel-drive vehicles.

Despite valiant life-saving efforts, the man was later declared deceased at the scene. First responders relayed a “confirmed 1144” — the emergency services code indicating a fatality — and a coroner was requested to respond.

Initial reports misidentified the operator of the bulldozer; however, a family member later confirmed that the machine was being operated by the victim’s brother, not his sister, and that the incident was a tragic accident.

The circumstances surrounding the fatal incident remain under investigation. No further information has been released at this time.
