Police Investigate Fatal Crash on White Lane in Bakersfield

Bakersfield, CA (February 12, 2026) – A man who suffered critical injuries in a crash on White Lane in Bakersfield has died, and police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Bakersfield police officers responded around 11:40 a.m. Sunday, February 8, 2026, to the 7000 block of White Lane for reports of a traffic collision.

When officers arrived, they found an adult male driver with major injuries. Paramedics transported him to a local hospital for treatment.

The second driver remained at the scene and was also taken for medical care.

On February 11, the Kern County Coroner’s Office notified the Bakersfield Police Department Traffic Division that the critically injured driver had died.

Investigators determined that the deceased driver had been traveling westbound on White Lane and attempted an unprotected left turn in front of eastbound traffic when the collision occurred.

White Lane is described as a six-lane east-west roadway divided by a raised concrete median, with a designated left-turn storage lane for westbound vehicles.

Discovery Church confirmed in a social media post that the deceased man was a member of their congregation.

Lead Pastor Jason stated that church staff were nearby at the time of the crash and assisted as they were able. He described the man as someone who loved God and his family.

A nearby business reported ongoing concerns about speeding in the area and suggested additional traffic signals could improve safety.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Authorities encourage anyone with information to contact the Bakersfield Police Department.

Sweet Lawyers extend our heartfelt condolences to the loved ones of the deceased. May the bereaved find solace and strength in this extremely trying time.
