Mariposa Driver Killed After Being Ejected in Coarsegold Crash

Coarsegold, CA (March 25, 2026) — A 58-year-old male passenger was hurt while the 35-year-old male driver from Mariposa lost his life early Saturday morning after a violent crash on Highway 41 in Coarsegold.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving a 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander southbound on Highway 41 near Road 420 at around 2:15 a.m. For reasons still under investigation, he made an unsafe left turn, causing the vehicle to veer off the roadway and slam into an embankment on the east side of the highway.

The impact caused the SUV to overturn, ejecting the driver. He died at the scene.

Reports say that the 58-year-old passenger from Canada sustained moderate injuries in the crash. Emergency crews airlifted him to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Officials continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
