Police Investigate Crash on 75th Avenue and Osborn Road in Phoenix

PHOENIX, AZ (August 28, 2026)— A man suffered minor injuries in a crash on 75th Avenue Thursday night after an allegedly stolen Phoenix Fire ambulance crashed into a pickup truck in west Phoenix, authorities said.

Phoenix police identified the suspected ambulance driver as 24-year-old Grace Vicente, a New Mexico correctional officer.

According to police, Vicente allegedly entered the driver’s seat of a Phoenix Fire ambulance parked near Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre around 11 p.m.

The ambulance was in the area of 83rd Avenue and Encanto Boulevard during a concert.

Authorities clarified that the ambulance was running, but the keys had not been left inside. Fire personnel were not responding to an emergency call at the time.

Prosecutors said paramedics had stepped away to retrieve a gurney when they discovered the ambulance was gone.

Police said Vicente allegedly drove away in the ambulance before crashing into a pickup truck near 75th Avenue and Osborn Road, less than two miles from the amphitheater. Prosecutors also said the ambulance struck a wall.

A man involved in the crash was taken away on a stretcher, although police said he did not suffer serious injuries.

Officers arrived at the collision scene and arrested Vicente. Investigators said she showed signs of impairment, and prosecutors alleged that she later acknowledged blacking out.

Police booked Vicente on suspicion of driving under the influence and theft of means of transportation. During her initial court appearance, a judge set her bond at $7,500.

Vicente’s defense attorney requested that she be released on her own recognizance and noted that she works as a sergeant with the New Mexico Corrections Department.

The allegations against Vicente have not been proven in court, and criminal charges do not constitute a conviction.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged ambulance theft and subsequent collision.
