PHOENIX, AZ (January 19, 2026) – Early Sunday morning, a man died in a brutal pedestrian crash on 23rd Avenue and Cactus Road.

The incident involving a pedestrian hit by a car happened at about 3:30 a.m. in the area of 23rd Avenue and Cactus Road.

A man was killed after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross a street, authorities said.

Phoenix Fire Department crews arrived and treated the unidentified man at the scene before transporting him to a nearby hospital, where he later died.

Detectives took over the investigation. Police said the driver remained at the scene.

Preliminary information indicates the man was not using a crosswalk and was about halfway across the street when he was hit by a truck. Investigators said the driver showed no signs of impairment, and speed was not considered a factor.
