1 Dead in Craig Pedestrian Accident on Highway 40 near Mack Avenue

CRAIG, CO (September 8, 2026) – Friday night, a man died in a brutal pedestrian crash on Highway 40 near Mack Avenue.

The incident happened at around 9:18 p.m. on Highway 40 near Mack Avenue.

An adult male pedestrian was struck by two vehicles while crossing a street in Craig and died at the scene, according to police.

Officers with the Craig Police Department responded to the crash. The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin by the Moffat County Coroner.

Highway 40 was closed between Mack Avenue and Woodbury Lane following the crash, with traffic rerouted in both directions. The highway reopened at 11:30 p.m.

The Colorado State Patrol is assisting the Craig Police Department with the investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
