Chico, CA (January 10, 2025) On Thursday morning, a man in his 20s or 30s was killed after a tragic crash near Mission Ranch Boulevard.

According to Chico Police (CPD), the horrific crash happened at about 2 a.m. on the Esplanade near Mission Ranch Boulevard.

Reports say that a car fatally struck a skateboarder in Chico early Thursday. Police reported that the male victim has not yet been identified. The driver, a 21-year-old Chico woman, remained at the scene.

Authorities closed the Esplanade for several hours, reopening the southbound lanes at 6 a.m. and expecting the northbound lane to reopen around 7:30 a.m.
