1 Dead in Wright County Auto Accident on Highway 5 near Mansfield

WRIGHT COUNTY, MO (November 18, 2025) – Saturday afternoon, an 84-year-old Ava man died in a devastating UTV crash on Highway 5 near Mansfield.

The incident happened at about 1:00 p.m. on Highway 5, about three miles south of Mansfield.

Troopers reported that a 2005 Chrysler 300 and a Kawasaki Mule UTV were both traveling north on Highway 5 when the crash occurred. The 84-year-old male driver of the UTV attempted a left turn, while the 66-year-old female driver of the Chrysler tried to pass another vehicle and collided with the UTV from behind.

The Wright County coroner later pronounced the UTV driver dead; he was not wearing a safety device. The Chrysler driver sustained minor injuries, while a 63-year-old female passenger in the UTV suffered serious injuries and also was not wearing a safety device.
