Passenger Injured in Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash on J W Cummins Road in Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY, MO (November 18, 2025) — A tragic two-vehicle crash on J W Cummins Road claimed the life of an 87-year-old man and seriously injured a 74-year-old passenger on Tuesday morning just south of Oak Grove.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the scene at approximately 8:46 a.m. 

The crash occurred when the elderly man, driving a Kawasaki utility vehicle westbound on J W Cummins Road, attempted to turn left onto southbound MO-F. 

During the turn, his vehicle entered the path of a southbound Jeep Compass, which struck the rear of the Kawasaki.

The impact forced the Kawasaki off the roadway and into a nearby tree. The driver was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. 

Authorities confirmed that his next of kin has been notified. His passenger, a 74-year-old woman, sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized for treatment.

The driver of the Jeep was treated at the scene for minor injuries and released. 

His vehicle sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding this devastating incident.
