1 Person Arrested in Fontana Auto Accident on Jurupa Avenue and Cherry Avenue

FONTANA, CA (May 8, 2024) – Sunday night, authorities arrested Manuel Lopez after a startling police chase crash on Jurupa Avenue and Cherry Avenue.

The incident started at around 10:44 p.m. when officers attempted to pull over a black Hyundai Elantra for a vehicle code violation on Valley Boulevard and Oleander Avenue.

According to the Fontana Police Department, the vehicle fled the scene, ran a red light while heading eastbound on Jurupa Avenue, and collided with a northbound vehicle.

Moreover, officers confirmed that the driver of the other vehicle complained of pain, but refused further treatment.

Furthermore, officers arrested the driver of the Hyundai, identified as 22-year-old Manuel Lopez, for DUI. Then, paramedics transported Lopez to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for a jail check.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the Fontana Police Department continued to investigate the crash.
