Mariah Lujan and 3 Others Injured in DUI Crash on South Carpenter Road [Modesto, CA]

4 Hurt in 2-Vehicle Collision near West Hatch Road, Charysteena Urbina Arrested

 
MODESTO, CA (September 18, 2018) – Four people were injured early Tuesday morning following a DUI Crash on South Carpenter Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 4:50 AM, between West Hatch Road and West Whitmore Avenue. A white 1999 Saturn four-door sedan, driven by 24-year-old Charysteena Urbina, was heading north on Carpenter when she drove into the path of a southbound red 1994 Chevy Silverado.
 
The impact of the head-on crash critically injured the unidentified 42-year-old man driving the Chevy. He was transported to the Memorial Medical Center by emergency responders, for treatment and medical evaluation.
 
Urbina was taken to the Doctors Medical Center with major injuries. She was placed under arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence. However, she was not immediately booked as she required hospitalization. Meanwhile, her two passengers, 23-year-old Mariah Lujan and 20-year-old Iliana Garcia Urbina, were also taken to hospitals with major injuries. Neither person’s medical conditions were immediately available.
 
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the collision and to identify other possible contributing factors. No other information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
