21-Year-Old Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run on S. Avenue B in Yuma

Yuma, AZ (December 7, 2025) — The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly hit-and-run that claimed the life of 21-year-old Mariella Acosta early Saturday morning.

Deputies responded before 5 a.m. to the area of S. Avenue B and W. County 14th Street.

Investigators say Acosta was walking along the roadside when a passing vehicle hit her and drove off.

Authorities believe the suspect vehicle may be a sedan or coupe with damage on the front passenger side near the headlight.

Acosta died at the scene. Her family has been notified. The search for the driver continues.
