Mark Kinney Injured in 2-Truck Crash on State Route 28 [Kennewick, WA]

Kennewick, WA (December 18, 2025) — A two-truck crash on State Route 28 in Douglas County sent 42-year-old Mark Kinney to the hospital Wednesday afternoon after a vehicle crossed the center line near Rock Island.

Washington State Patrol officials said the collision happened around 1:53 p.m. near milepost 12 when a westbound truck drifted out of its lane and entered oncoming traffic. The truck struck an eastbound vehicle head-on, causing it to roll onto its passenger side and spill a load of apples across the roadway.

Troopers identified the injured driver as Mark A. Kinney of Kennewick. Emergency crews transported him to a hospital for treatment. The other driver, 33-year-old Dakota C. Scott of Warden, was not hurt. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Investigators cited failure to maintain lane as the cause of the collision. Several vehicles and trailers sustained significant damage, with at least two units declared total losses. The investigation remains ongoing.
