Four Tacoma Residents Killed, Five Others Hurt in Grant County Semi-Truck Crash

Grant County, WA (July 31, 2026) — Martin Tran was among four people from Tacoma who lost their lives, and five others suffered injuries Tuesday afternoon following a collision between a sedan and a semi-truck at an intersection north of Royal City in Grant County.

According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Dodson Road South and Frenchman Hills Road West. Investigators said a sedan attempted to cross the intersection and was struck broadside by an oncoming semi-truck.

Authorities identified the victims as Martin Tran, 34; Thomas Tran, 39; Theresa Tran, 66; and Joseph Tran, 69. All four died from injuries sustained in the collision.

A fifth passenger, Michael Tran, suffered critical injuries and was airlifted to Kadlec Medical Center for treatment.

The semi-truck driver, Felipe Alvos, 68, along with passengers Rosa Amador, 71, and two children, ages 6 and 7, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Emergency crews transported them to Samaritan Hospital for medical care.

Investigators believe the sedan’s driver failed to stop or yield the right-of-way before entering the intersection. Authorities said there is no evidence that impairment or excessive speed by the semi-truck driver contributed to the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
