24-Year-Old Motorcyclist Dies in East San Jose Collision with Minivan

San Jose, CA (September 25, 2025) — 24-year-old Matthew Atangan of San Jose lost his life early Saturday after crashing into a minivan in East San Jose.

San Jose police said the crash happened just after midnight near Ocala Avenue and Ridgemont Drive.

Investigators determined that a woman driving a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica turned left from Ridgemont onto Ocala Avenue, crossing into the path of a 2024 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle traveling eastbound.

Authorities identified the rider as Atangan , tragically collided with the minivan.

Emergency responders rushed Atangan to the hospital, where he later died. The driver of the Pacifica stayed at the scene and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities confirmed she was not cited or arrested.

This incident marked the city’s 26th traffic fatality of the year and the second deadly motorcycle crash in San Jose for 2025.
