Lucerne Valley Man Fatally Struck by Big Rig on Old Woman Springs Road

Lucerne Valley, CA (August 29, 2025) Early Friday, authorities identified 60-year-old Matthew Butcher as the man killed in a collision with a big rig along Old Woman Springs Road (Highway 247) near Locust Road.

Investigators reported that a 2016 Freightliner tractor-trailer was traveling eastbound around 1:30 a.m. when Butcher entered the roadway and was struck. He died at the scene from his injuries.

The California Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
