Matthew Clark Arrested in Fatal Crash on Big Bear Boulevard [Big Bear Lake, CA]

Big Bear Lake, CA (May 6, 2025) — A violent crash in Big Bear Lake claimed the lives of two women and left another woman critically injured. Later, authorities arrested a 52-year-old Matthew Clark of Oxnard on suspicion of DUI.

The collision happened around 10:22 a.m. at the intersection of Big Bear Boulevard and Cienega Road. Investigators said Clark was driving a white Ford Super Duty pickup southbound on Cienega Road when he allegedly failed to stop at a posted stop sign before entering the intersection.

A red Subaru Crosstrek traveling westbound on Big Bear Boulevard was crossing the intersection when the pickup slammed into the passenger side of the SUV.

One woman riding in the Subaru died at the crash scene. Another passenger suffered severe injuries and was airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The Subaru’s driver sustained major injuries and was flown to Loma Linda University Medical Center for treatment.

Clark suffered minor injuries and was taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center before deputies arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence. Authorities later booked him into the West Valley Detention Center, where he remained held on $250,000 bail.

Officials have not yet released the identities of the deceased victims while family notifications are pending.
