Injuries Reported in Columbia Auto Accident on Paris Road and Vandiver Drive
COLUMBIA, MO (February 19, 2026) – Monday night, 40-year-old Maurice Robinson was arrested after a startling DUI crash on Paris Road and Vandiver Drive.
The incident happened at 9:48 p.m. at the intersection of Paris Road and Vandiver Drive.
Maurice Robinson, 40, was charged Tuesday with driving while intoxicated, causing physical injury, along with four misdemeanors: DWI with a passenger younger than 17 in the vehicle, driving while revoked, reckless driving, and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
Robinson is being held without bond at the Boone County Jail. His initial court appearance was scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
According to a probable cause statement, Robinson was found lying on the ground at the scene and claimed he had injured his leg but refused medical treatment. He admitted to driving a 2016 Jeep Patriot.
A passenger told police that Robinson caused the crash and should not have been driving because he had been drinking. The witness also alleged that Robinson threw several beer cans from the Jeep before officers arrived. Police reported finding three unopened cans of beer on a nearby sidewalk and one open can that was nearly empty.
Officers wrote that Robinson was unable to complete field sobriety tests. A breath test showed his blood alcohol concentration was .299, nearly four times the legal limit. He was taken to University Hospital for evaluation.
Police said two children were in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
