Driver Mauricio Montes De Oca Dead in US 385 Collision

2 Hospitalized in US 385 Deadly 2-Vehicle Crash

Dallam County, TX (August 7, 2026) – Mauricio Montes De Oca, a 24-year-old driver from Dalhart, was killed in a US 385 collision Wednesday afternoon.

It was before 2 p.m. when the deadly 2-vehicle crash happened north of Dalhart.

Troopers said a Chevrolet Silverado driven by Montes De Oca exited a private driveway and turned onto the freeway.

Police said Montes De Oca failed to yield the right of way.

Then, a cement truck traveling north struck the Chevrolet on its driver’s side.

Sadly, Montes De Oca was declared deceased at the crash scene.

The cement truck’s driver and the passenger of the Chevrolet were rushed to an Amarillo hospital with serious injuries.

Officers are investigating the deadly crash.
