Maya Borowicz Suffers Injuries in Hit-and-Run Crash on S Congress Avenue [Austin, TX]

Austin, TX (June 10, 2025) – Maya Borowicz of Austin was injured following a hit-and-run crash on S Congress Avenue Wednesday night.

The traffic crash happened at 10 p.m. on May 21.

According to Borowicz, she was riding her bike northbound across the bridge and was heading home when a rider from the opposite direction and approached her bike lane and crashed into her.

Borowicz said the rider appeared hut but fled without stopping.

Borowicz sustained seven broken bones in her wrist and foot, requiring two surgeries. 

Despite the incident, she said she is till determined and unafraid.

Moreover, APD said the case is suspended due to a lack of leads but could have it reopened if new evidence identifies the suspect. 

Troopers also said the bike involved in the collision was an off-road electric motorcycle. They said is illegal to ride on streets because of its high speed and off-road designation.

Once caught, the rider would face a felony charge for failure to stop and render aid.
