McAllen Man Jose Mexicano Killed in I-20 Crash [Martin County, TX]

Martin County, TX (August 17, 2026) — 64-year-old Jose Mexicano of McAllen died after a multi-vehicle crash Sunday morning on Interstate 20 in Martin County.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2022 International LT traveling westbound suffered a tire blowout. The truck crossed the center median and entered the eastbound lanes, where it collided with a 2022 Kenworth T680 and a 2005 Kenworth, both pulling trailers.

The Kenworth T680 driver, identified as Mexicano, suffered injuries and was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital, where he later died. The drivers of the other two trucks also went to the hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
