Michael Blair Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on State Route 162 [Oroville, CA]

Oroville, CA (May 28, 2025) — California Highway Patrol investigators have identified a suspect vehicle connected to a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed Michael Blair of Oroville earlier this month near State Route 162.

Officers responded on May 17 to reports of an unresponsive pedestrian near Kampong Court. Emergency personnel located Blair at the scene, where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators believe Blair was struck during the overnight hours between May 16 and May 17 while he was in the roadway.

According to CHP, evidence gathered at the crash scene helped investigators identify the suspect vehicle as a gray Kia Telluride. Authorities used several investigative tools, including Flock camera technology, to locate both the vehicle and a person connected to the incident.

Officials later inspected the Kia and confirmed it had been involved in the collision. Investigators interviewed the driver, but no arrest has been made at this time due to the investigation’s preliminary nature.

CHP said the case will be forwarded to the Butte County District Attorney’s Office with a recommendation to pursue felony hit-and-run charges resulting in death and injury. The investigation remains ongoing.
