Michael Papendick and Jessica Brandal Die in Airplane-Helicopter Crash near Chandler Municipal Airport [Chandler, AZ]

Chandler, AZ (October 2, 2021) On Friday, Michael Papendick and Jessica Brandal died in a plane/helicopter crash near Chandler Municipal Airport.

Chandler Police says that the accident happened around 7:30 a.m. near McQueen Road and Queen Creek Road.

Moreover, reports say that it was a collision mid-air between a fixed-wing plane and a helicopter.

The plane was able to land, but the helicopter crashed and caught fire, by the Chandler Municipal Airport. The Chandler Fire Department received notice immediately after.  

Papendick’s family confirmed that he was one of the two who perished in the Chandler crash. Later reports revealed the other decedent as Jessica Brandal, 27.

Friends and relatives create a GoFundMe to help with the cost of the memorial and help support Papendick’s wife and young daughter.

Meanwhile, the National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash site to know the probable cause of the crash.

The authorities closed several streets in the area near McQueen and Queen Creek Roads due to the investigation.

Authorities are asking witnesses who saw the crash to reach out to them at 480-782-4130.
