36-Year-Old Man Killed in Hit-and-Run on US-54 in Northeast El Paso

El Paso, TX (December 27, 2025) — Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash on US-54 North early Friday morning that claimed the life of 36-year-old Miguel Eduardo Rodriguez.

Investigators said Rodriguez stopped his vehicle at Gateway North and walked toward the shoulder of the highway shortly after midnight. While standing along the roadway, an unidentified vehicle struck him and then fled the scene.

Emergency responders transported Rodriguez to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Authorities believe the suspect vehicle may have damage to its front right corner.

The El Paso Police Department’s Special Traffic Investigations unit continues to work the case. Anyone with information is asked to contact El Paso police at 915-832-4400 or Crime Stoppers of El Paso at 915-566-8477 to provide tips anonymously.

Officials noted this incident represents the city’s 61st traffic-related death of 2025, compared with 68 fatalities recorded at the same point last year.
