Fresno Auto Accident on Highway 99 and Belmont Avenue

FRESNO, CA (February 20, 2025) – Wednesday morning, an alarming vehicle crash on Highway 99 and Belmont Avenue led to minor injuries.

The incident happened just after 6:00 a.m. on southbound Highway 99, north of Belmont Avenue.

The California Highway Patrol reported that a vehicle had stopped in the center median due to a flat tire, leading to significant traffic congestion.

Caltrans cameras showed traffic backing up as far as southbound Highway 99 near Clinton Avenue at the time of the crash.

According to CHP, a pickup truck traveling at an unsafe speed was unable to slow down in time, crashing into the rear of another vehicle. The impact caused the second car to overturn, with both vehicles coming to rest on the right shoulder.

Three drivers were involved, and authorities confirmed only minor injuries. CHP stated that alcohol was not a factor, attributing the crash solely to excessive speed in heavy traffic.

The incident remains under investigation.
