Odessa Woman Dies After Pedestrian Crash on FM 2020 in Ector County

Ector County, TX (August 5, 2026) — 52-year-old Misti Hurst of Odessa lost her life after a vehicle struck her early Tuesday morning in Ector County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash happened around 6:15 a.m. on FM 2020 near mile marker 254. Investigators said Misti Dawn Hurst attempted to cross the roadway when an eastbound 2026 Ford F-250 hit her.

Hurst suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Authorities identified the driver of the pickup as Victor Manuel Morales Sanchez, 27, who was not injured in the collision.

The Texas Department of Public Safety has taken over the investigation and continues to examine the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
