Monica Valdez Arrested in Deadly Multi-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 45 [Houston, TX]

Houston, TX (February 7, 2025) – The authorities arrested 32-year-old Monica Valdez following a deadly multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 45 early Thursday morning.

The fatal collision happened around 3:15 a.m. on the southbound freeway near Crosstimbers Street.

Investigators said Monica Valdez, was driving a driving a Ford F-150 and speeding on the wrong side of the highway.

Officers said Valdez crashed into a Jeep, driven by a 50-year-old driver.

Sadly, the Jeep driver was killed at the crash scene.

Moreover, a witness in the crash said Valdez tried to get him to help her run away from the crash scene.

“I thought the driver of the truck would be dead, too,” the witness said. “But, she started yelling, ‘Hey! Help me, help me, help me get out of here!'” the witness added.

HPD said another vehicle struck road debris, and a fourth vehicle strong Valdez. According to them, all four vehicles involved aren’t drivable.

Moreover, it was discovered that Valdez was out on bond and awaiting trial on 2023 charges in Brazos County. According to the prosecutor in Brazos County, Valdez was allegedly involved in a serious drug conspiracy ring in College Station. She was charged with a second-degree felony that is set for a jury trial this June.

Brazos County prosecutors said they will discuss the charges with their counterparts in Harris County to determine which of the two serious charges will move first in the criminal justice system.
