One Dead in Vallejo After Suspected DUI Crash
Vallejo, CA (December 16, 2025) — A pedestrian died early Sunday morning after a suspected DUI collision on Sonoma Boulevard, that led to the arrest of 48-year-old Morris Turner of American Canyon.
Vallejo police responded around 1:09 a.m. to reports of a pedestrian struck on Sonoma Boulevard, north of Meadows Drive. Officers found an adult male unresponsive in the roadway and attempted life-saving measures, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators identified Turner as the driver. Turner remained at the scene and was taken to a nearby hospital. Authorities said impairment may have contributed to the crash, and a blood sample was collected under a warrant. Turner was arrested for vehicular manslaughter and felony DUI.
The Solano County Coroner’s Office is withholding the victim’s identity until family notification is complete. Police urge anyone with information about the incident to contact the Vallejo Police Department Traffic Division.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends affected by this tragic loss. Please exercise caution on the roads, and never drive under the influence.
What to Do Following a Deadly Traffic Crash?
The sudden and tragic loss of a loved one in a traffic accident is an incredibly painful experience. In addition to the emotional toll, families are often faced with significant financial challenges, particularly when the deceased was a primary breadwinner or played a central role in supporting the household. When a deadly collision happens, pursuing a wrongful death claim becomes essential to secure justice, financial compensation, and a sense of closure.
A wrongful death claim allows surviving family members to seek compensation for various expenses incurred as a result of the fatal crash. These can include but are not limited to funeral costs, medical bills for treatment before death, and loss of income that the deceased would have provided. Without compensation, the bereaved might struggle with financial stability. A wrongful death claim ensures that those financial burdens are addressed.
Beyond financial recovery, a wrongful death claim also serves a crucial role in holding negligent parties accountable for their actions. Whether the fatal accident was caused by a distracted driver, someone driving under the influence, or poor road maintenance, the claim forces the responsible party to answer for their actions. This sense of accountability can be a pivotal step for grieving families, who may find some solace in knowing that the responsible party has been legally held liable for the loss.
Ultimately, while no amount of compensation can replace the loss of a loved one, a wrongful death claim can offer financial support, justice, and a path toward healing to the bereaved.
