Two Men Airlifted After Single-Vehicle Crash on State Route 97A Near Entiat
Entiat, WA (May 6, 2025) — Moses Aparicio and Francisco Macedopaz suffered injuries early Tuesday morning following a single-vehicle crash on State Route 97A, about five miles north of Entiat.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the crash occurred around 5:44 a.m. when a gray 2014 Chevrolet Cruze traveling southbound drifted onto the right shoulder. The car then entered a ditch, struck an embankment connected to a private driveway, crossed over the driveway, and came to rest on a hillside.
The driver, a 23-year-old Francisco J. Macedopaz from Orondo, and the passenger, 25-year-old Moses L. Aparicio from Manson both sustained injuries. Emergency crews airlifted them to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.
Authorities confirmed the driver was wearing a seat belt, while the passenger’s seat belt use remains unknown. The vehicle was declared a total loss and removed from the scene.
Investigators continue to determine the cause of the crash, including whether impairment or other factors contributed. Possible charges are still under review.
When we’re behind the wheel, we’re not just driving for ourselves—we’re part of a larger community that shares the road. That’s why it’s so important to drive responsibly, stay alert, and respect the rights of others. Safe driving doesn’t just protect you; it protects your family, neighbors, and even strangers traveling alongside you.
Together, we can reduce the number of traffic collisions and create safer roads for everyone. Let’s commit to driving with care, staying focused, and taking responsibility for our actions.
And remember: seatbelts save lives. Whether you’re the driver or a passenger, buckling up is one of the simplest and most effective ways to prevent serious injury in a crash.
Single-vehicle crashes can happen in seconds, especially when drivers lose focus or drift off the roadway. Stay attentive, avoid distractions, and always wear a seat belt. These simple precautions can significantly reduce the risk of serious injury.
Life After a Traffic Accident
The truth is, a crash doesn’t end when the wreckage is cleared away. For many, it’s just the beginning of a long and difficult road to recovery. Injuries can range from minor bruises to life-changing trauma, and the emotional toll can be just as heavy — stress, anxiety, or even the fear of driving again. Add medical bills, lost wages, and other financial worries, and it can all feel overwhelming.
