Motorcyclist Dies, Passenger Injured in Suspected DUI Crash in Modesto

Modesto, CA (August 25, 2025) — A tragic motorcycle collision on Yosemite Boulevard Saturday morning left one motorcycle rider dead and another injured after being struck by a suspected DUI driver.

Police said the collision happened just after 9:30 a.m. on Yosemite Boulevard near Phoenix Avenue. Two people were riding westbound on a motorcycle when a truck, driven by 61-year-old Billy O’Neal of Modesto, turned onto Phoenix Avenue and collided with them.

Emergency crews transported both riders to the hospital, where one was later pronounced dead. The other rider is recovering from injuries.

Authorities reported that O’Neal stayed at the scene but showed signs of intoxication. Officers arrested him on suspicion of DUI, murder, vehicular manslaughter, and DUI with injury.
