1 Dead in Albuquerque Motorcycle Accident on Espanola Street SE and Zuni Road SE

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (April 30, 2026) – Tuesday night, a person died in a devastating motorcycle crash on Espanola Street SE and Zuni Road SE.

The incident involving a car and a motorcycle happened at about 8:50 p.m. on Espanola Street SE and Zuni Road SE.

Responders arrived to find one person with life-threatening injuries and transported them to a hospital, where the rider later died.

According to Albuquerque Police Department spokesperson Chase Jewell, the other driver remained at the scene. APD’s Motor Unit was called in to investigate.

Road closures were put in place around the area, including Zuni between Charleston Street and Chama Street, as well as parts of San Pablo and Grove. Authorities noted closures could change as the investigation continues.

Police later released preliminary details, stating officers responded just before 9 p.m. to Zuni Road and San Pablo Street SE, where a motorcycle and a pickup truck collided.

According to APD civilian PIO Gilbert Gallegos, investigators determined a red 1995 Toyota pickup was traveling west on Zuni and began turning left onto south San Pablo after the light turned green. At the same time, a red 2013 BMW motorcycle traveling east on Zuni struck the truck’s front passenger side, ejecting the rider.

The motorcyclist, an adult man, was taken to a hospital and later died. Police said speed is believed to have been a factor.

The crash remains under investigation.
