Two Motorcyclists Critically Injured in Salinas Collision After Driver Fails to Yield

Salinas, CA (June 8, 2025) — Two motorcyclists suffered critical injuries after a crash on Linwood Drive involving a vehicle on Friday afternoon in Salinas.

The collision happened at about 3:00 p.m. at the intersection of East Laurel Drive and Linwood Drive. According to police, the driver of a gray Buick attempted a left turn while facing a flashing yellow arrow and failed to yield to oncoming traffic.

As the Buick turned across the roadway, an approaching motorcycle was unable to avoid the vehicle and crashed into it. The motorcycle rider and passenger both sustained severe injuries and were transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Focus on the Road

Millions of people take to the roads for work, school, errands, or leisure. While many of these trips are uneventful, accidents can happen in the blink of an eye. Traffic accidents can change lives in an instant, causing physical injuries, emotional trauma, and financial hardship.

Wearing your seatbelt is the simplest and most effective way to protect yourself in an accident. It can reduce the risk of serious injury or death by up to 50%.

Similarly, texting, talking on the phone, eating, or doing anything else that takes your eyes off the road for even a second can have disastrous consequences. Keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road.

Always drive cautiously and be aware of road conditions to prevent accidents. Quick and safe responses can save lives in emergencies.

Left-turn collisions can happen in seconds and often result in serious injuries for motorcyclists. Drivers should always check carefully for approaching vehicles and yield the right-of-way before turning across traffic. Staying alert and exercising patience can help prevent devastating crashes.
