1 Dead in Long Beach Motorcycle Accident on San Gabriel River Trail and 405 Freeway

LONG BEACH, CA (March 22, 2026) – Friday night, a rider died in a brutal bicycle vs motorcycle crash on San Gabriel River Trail and 405 Freeway.

The incident occurred at around 8:15 p.m. on San Gabriel River Trail, south of 405 Freeway.

Officers arrived and found a motorcyclist and a bicyclist being helped by bystanders, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Paramedics took both men to a hospital with critical injuries. The motorcyclist later died.

Investigators said the motorcyclist had been traveling south on the San Gabriel River Trail when he collided head-on with a bicyclist going the opposite direction. Both were thrown from their vehicles.

Witnesses told police the motorcyclist was traveling at a high speed without a helmet or lights. Authorities said impairment and distraction were not believed to be factors.
