SHERMAN OAKS, CA (March 13, 2026) — A motorcycle rider suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash on the Ventura 101 Freeway on Friday morning, according to authorities.

The collision happened at about 10:50 a.m. on the westbound side of the freeway near the San Diego (405) Freeway, the California Highway Patrol reported. 

Investigators said the motorcycle rider collided with another vehicle and came to rest in the center lane.

Officials described the rider as a man who appeared to be in his mid- to late 50s. 

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported him to a hospital in grave condition.

Emergency crews also took another injured person to a hospital in fair condition, according to an LAFD spokeswoman.

The crash caused a significant traffic backup on the westbound Ventura Freeway, with delays stretching to Laurel Canyon Boulevard.

Authorities have not yet released additional details about what led to the collision. 

The investigation remains ongoing.
