39-Year-Old Motorcyclist Dead in Highway 99 Collision [Bakersfield, CA]

Bakersfield, CA (March 24, 2026) – A 39-year-old man was killed in a Highway 99 collision Saturday night.

It was past 9 p.m. when the fatal crash happened on the northbound freeway, near the Ming Avenue off-ramp.

Troopers said the 39-year-old man was riding a northbound motorcycle on Highway 99 toward the westbound Highway 58.

That is when, a Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by a 36-year-old man, made an unsafe crossing onto the line that separates the transition road and on-ramp lanes.

As a result, the motorcycle then crashed onto the left side of the Chevrolet.

The motorcyclist was thrown from the motorcycle, and was hit by oncoming traffic.

CHP responded to the scene and declared the man dead at the scene.

Officers said impairment did not appear to be a factor in the collision and ask anyone who may have details to call them at (661) 396-6600.
