Misael Lara-Moya Arrested After Hit-And-Run Crash on Fruitdale Avenue in San Jose

San Jose, CA (June 12, 2025) – San Jose police arrested a suspect two days after a hit-and-run crash on Fruitdale Avenue that left a motorcyclist hospitalized.

According to the San Jose Police Department, officers responded to a collision just before 6 a.m. on June 9 near the intersection of Fruitdale Avenue and Southwest Expressway. 

Investigators determined that a motorcyclist was heading west on Fruitdale Avenue when the driver of a black sedan, traveling south on Corlista Drive, made an illegal U-turn, cutting into the motorcyclist’s path.

The collision seriously injured the motorcyclist, prompting emergency crews to rush him to the hospital. 

Before officers arrived at the scene, the driver of the sedan fled.

After conducting an investigation, police identified the suspect as 35-year-old Misael Lara-Moya of San Jose. 

Authorities arrested Lara-Moya on Wednesday in connection with the crash.
