Motorcyclist Injured in Rear-End Crash on Black Lake Belmore Road [Tumwater, WA]

Tumwater, WA (May 15, 2024) – A motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, was injured in a rear-end crash on Black Lake Belmore Road late Monday afternoon.

It was about 5 p.m. when the multi-vehicle crash happened near Black Lake.

Officers said a a truck, a motorcycle, and a car, were southbound on Black Lake Belmore Road. The truck slowed to turn at 52nd Avenue SW, and so did the motorcycle rider, but the car driver did not slow. 

The car driven by a 25-year-old man rear-ended the motorcycle which ejected the rider. Afterward, the motorcycle was pinned under the car as both collided with the truck and started a fire.

Luckily, the truck was able to drive away from the fire and the driver also helped put out the fire. 

The truck driver and a passenger did not incur any injuries. 

Someone also pulled the motorcycle rider away from the car and flames. 

The motorcyclist was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in critical condition. 

The car driver was treated at the scene and has been arrested on suspicion of vehicular assault. Apparently, the man who was arrested and the motorcyclist are related.
