Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Interstate 580 in Alameda County
Alameda County, CA (Dec. 4, 2025) — A motorcyclist died Thursday afternoon following a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 580, east of Eden Canyon Road, the California Highway Patrol confirmed.
The incident occurred around 4:23 p.m. when CHP received reports of a crash involving a motorcycle and another vehicle in the eastbound lanes of I-580.
According to officials, the motorcyclist was riding eastbound when a collision occurred that caused him to be ejected from his bike and land in the left lane of the freeway.
Moments later, a truck traveling in that same left lane struck the rider, resulting in fatal injuries.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene, but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead. His identity has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.
The crash temporarily shut down the two left lanes of I-580 while authorities investigated and cleared the scene.
All lanes have since reopened, and the CHP continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
