Police Investigate Fatal Crash at East Amar Road in La Puente

LA PUENTE, CA (July 2, 2026) — A motorcyclist died Thursday morning after a crash at East Amar Road involving a minivan at an intersection in La Puente.

According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the collision happened at about 5:45 a.m. at East Amar Road and North Evanwood Avenue.

Authorities pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. Officials have not yet released the rider’s identity.

A California Highway Patrol spokesperson said it was not immediately known whether the minivan driver suffered injuries.

Neighbors told Eyewitness News that the minivan driver was an undercover officer with the Alhambra Police Department. Eyewitness News contacted Alhambra police for more information about why the agency was in the area.

Aerial footage from AIR7 showed a black privacy tent at the crash site. The motorcycle appeared on its side near the front left tire of the black minivan in the middle of the intersection.

Video also showed significant damage on the left side of the minivan. Authorities have not confirmed whether all of that damage occurred during the collision.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
