Police Investigate Fatal Crash at South Union and Welch in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (September 22, 2025) — A motorcyclist tragically lost his life Sunday evening after a crash at South Union.
The fatal crash occurred around 6:07 p.m. at the intersection of South Union Avenue and Welch Avenue.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the motorcyclist had been traveling westbound on Welch Avenue when a northbound semi-truck on South Union Avenue entered the intersection, leading to a devastating collision.
Emergency crews responded quickly and transported the motorcyclist to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead due to the severity of his injuries.
His identity has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin by the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
Police report that the semi-truck driver remained at the scene and is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation.
