Rider Dies after Crash with Van on 5 Freeway in San Diego

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (July 14, 2019) – A motorcyclist was killed following a traffic crash with a van on 5 Freeway, near Via De San Ysidro.
 
The collision took place at 3:26 a.m., on the southbound lanes of the 5 Freeway. Dispatchers arrived just North Via De San Ysidro.
 
CHP officials found the rider down in lanes, protected by a tow truck that stopped to render assistance. The unidentified victim sustained major injuries and was later pronounced dead at the scene.
 
Another involved vehicle, a white Chevrolet van, was located on the right shoulder with hazard lights turned on.
 
There were also no official reports stating what caused the crash or how it exactly transpired. Authorities are looking further into the incident.
