Woman Killed, One Injured in Three-Vehicle Crash on Highway 119 in Boulder County

Boulder County, CO (July 18, 2026) — On Wednesday evening, a three-vehicle collision on Highway 119 near Nederland in Boulder County claimed the life of one woman and injured another driver.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, the crash happened around 6:30 p.m. when a Dodge Ram pickup truck traveling eastbound experienced brake failure while towing a trailer. The trailer crossed into the westbound lanes and struck a Toyota Sienna, causing the minivan to veer off the roadway and crash into large rocks and a mailbox.

The pickup continued eastbound when it collided head-on with a Hyundai Ioniq. The impact forced the Hyundai into a rock embankment, where it came to a stop.

Authorities said the pickup driver, a 27-year-old man from Thornton, was not hurt. The 22-year-old driver of the Toyota Sienna, from Ward, suffered injuries and was transported to a hospital. The 37-year-old woman driving the Hyundai Ioniq, from Nederland died at the scene.

The highway remained closed overnight while crews investigated and cleared the crash before reopening early Thursday morning. Colorado State Patrol continues to investigate the incident and is asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has relevant information to come forward.
