Multi-Car Crash on Highway 24 Injures 2 People [Chariton County, MO]

Chariton County, MO (August 7, 2026) — On Tuesday evening, two women suffered serious injuries following a three-vehicle crash on Highway 24 in Chariton County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 5:17 p.m., approximately four miles east of Salisbury. Investigators said a 2023 Kia Forte traveling eastbound struck the rear of a Jeep Grand Cherokee, pushing the SUV into the path of an oncoming Dodge Caravan, where the vehicles collided head-on.

The 18-year-old driver of the Kia from Salisbury and the 55-year-old driver of the Dodge from Moberly sustained critical injuries. Emergency responders transported the Salisbury woman to University Hospital by ambulance, while a medical helicopter airlifted the Moberly woman to the same hospital.

Authorities reported that the Kia driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. The other drivers involved were properly restrained.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the collision.
