Multi-Car Crash on Interstate 5 Caused by DUI [SeaTac, WA]

SeaTac, WA (March 25, 2026) — Five people suffered injuries early Monday morning after a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 NB in SeaTac.

The crash happened shortly after 12:30 a.m. near South 188th Street, shutting down all northbound lanes for several hours. Authorities diverted traffic while emergency crews responded to the scene.

Investigators said a 44-year-old Tacoma man driving a Toyota Corolla lost control of his vehicle and struck another car, setting off a chain-reaction crash involving three additional vehicles. The initial impact forced one of the cars into a ditch, while the Toyota came to rest on the shoulder and caught fire.

Five individuals were hurt in the crash. Four victims required hospital treatment, while another received medical attention at the scene.

Authorities believe impaired driving played a role in the collision. The driver suspected of causing the crash was not injured and may face charges as the investigation continues.

All lanes reopened around 5:30 a.m.
