Multi-Car Crash on Interstate 5 Led to Injury [Maytown, WA]

Maytown, WA (September 8, 2026) — A three-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 NB near Maytown sent one driver to the hospital Friday evening and blocked the roadway for more than an hour.

According to the Washington State Patrol, a 21-year-old woman driving a Hyundai Elantra stopped near milepost 96 around 8:19 p.m. after encountering a hazard in the roadway. A 69-year-old man in a Toyota Corolla then struck the stopped sedan from behind. A 39-year-old motorcyclist also crashed into the Elantra.

The vehicles came to rest in the first lane, blocking traffic for about 1 hour and 25 minutes. The Elantra driver suffered minor injuries and went to a hospital for treatment.

Troopers cited the Corolla driver. Authorities said alcohol and drugs did not contribute to the crash, while the investigation remains ongoing.
