Violent Multi-Car Crash on Interstate 705 Kills Pedestrian [Tacoma, WA]

Tacoma, WA (May 29, 2025) – A horrific multi-car crash on Interstate 705 late Tuesday evening left a pedestrian dead.

According to authorities, the deadly incident happened at around 11:27 p.m. on southbound I-705 near 11th Street.

Reports say that a pedestrian died late Tuesday night after four vehicles struck them in Tacoma.

Authorities say that the the pedestrian was walking in a traffic lane. Three vehicles stopped at the scene, while one pulled into a nearby parking lot at South Union Avenue and South 23rd Street.

Officials confirmed the pedestrian died on-site.

Investigators suspect drug or alcohol involvement, and the incident remains under investigation.

The drivers—ages 18, 26, 33, and 56—were from Tacoma, Federal Way, and Puyallup; none sustained injuries. The highway remained closed for over four hours.
