Speeding Triggers Three-Vehicle Crash on SR-161 Near Eatonville, Injuring Teen
Eatonville, WA (August 1, 2026) — A three-vehicle crash on State Route 161 near Eatonville left a 15-year-old girl injured late Friday night after a speeding pickup truck slammed into stopped traffic.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened around 11:55 p.m. when an 89-year-old man driving a 2019 Ram 1500 southbound on SR-161 failed to stop in time and rear-ended a 2004 Toyota Camry that had stopped for traffic. The impact pushed the Camry into the back of a 2025 Hyundai Sonata that was also stopped ahead.
All three vehicles remained in the southbound lane, forcing authorities to close the roadway for approximately one hour and 15 minutes while crews cleared the scene.
Emergency responders transported a 15-year-old passenger from the Camry to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment. Investigators determined that speeding caused the crash and cited the pickup truck driver. Authorities also confirmed that drugs and alcohol did not contribute to the incident.
