Injuries Reported in Palm Springs Multi-Vehicle Accident near Whitewater Road and Tipton Road

PALM SPRINGS, CA (February 4, 2026) – Tuesday morning, a crippling multi-vehicle crash near Whitewater Road and Tipton Road sent 2 men to the hospital.

Reports said that the incident happened just after 1:00 a.m. near Whitewater Road, west of Tipton Road.

A preliminary investigation found that a tractor-trailer struck another tractor-trailer parked on the right shoulder of eastbound I-10 near the Whitewater Rest Area. The impact ruptured one truck’s right-side saddle tank, spilling fuel and engine oil onto the shoulder, authorities said.

A second crash occurred shortly after when three vehicles tried to avoid the initial collision. In total, four semi trucks and a 2023 white Subaru were involved in the two crashes.

A 46-year-old man from Bell and a 60-year-old man from Long Beach were taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs for pain complaints. No other injuries were reported.

Lanes three and four were temporarily closed for cleanup but reopened by 10 a.m. Caltrans and the Department of Environmental Health assisted at the scene.
